During our three-day stay in Paris, we had the opportunity to attend various panel talks featuring accomplished builders in the field, all of whom shared a common objective. Additionally, the side events were quite enjoyable, with plenty of activities to partake in. Super Rare hosted a day exhibition event at the IHAM Gallery and a large part of NFTUK attended, we visited the NFT Factory for the World of Women x the Fabricant breakfast as well as the CPG event where we met some connections we’ve been in chatting with for long time. Animoca Brands hosted an educational panel as well that was very insightful. Our friends at Top Dogs hosted a fun boat party.
We definitelly missed on some more fun like Rug Radio and the Rekt party but we will make sure to attend them in the near future.
It was a pleasure to reunite with friends from all around the globe and spend time together amidst the bustling atmosphere.
A few considerations we took away with us:
Paris is embracing Web3 technology, just like the UK, and is an active player in the NFT space
The art world remains one of the most promising use cases for blockchain technology, with the potential for mass adoption
The growth of the metaverse is driving a new wave of innovation in gaming, which is increasingly adopting blockchain technology and challenging traditional mindsets
Major brands are entering the Web3 space: But is the community at the heart of their entry?
As the Web3 space continues to evolve and mature, it is likely that more and more brands will seek to enter the space. But the question remains: will they truly put the community at the heart of their entry, or will they be content to simply ride the hype train?
We aim to advice and help direct projects and brands right, case by case through our NFTUK educational activities and IRL events
Artist Spotlight: Defaced
For our artist spotlight we got to chat with Defaced and it was such a pleasure! Defaced is an incredibly talented and unique artist in our community.
Interview ⬇️
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your background as an artist and how would you describe your artistic style?
Sure, I mostly uses Adobe Illustrator to create weird little scenes or characters. I sometimes paint and try to combine mediums. I would describe my artistic style as really boring and incredibly uninspired.
Can you discuss any upcoming projects or exhibitions you have planned?
I've got fuck all going on really. I've got a project with my friend Gurt I've been working on and that's going to come out around when this interview is released. He's had a hard time, he got laid off recently so I'm doing my best to get him out of a rut.
Are there any specific projects or pieces that hold a special significance to you?
I've got fond-ish memories of the piece I made for Sotheby's as I got to leave my desk for a few days. The Bowie project was cool too, I rarely get to dive that deep into a subject- I felt like I learnt a lot.
Lastly, what advice would you give to aspiring artists?
Keep making above all else and as long as you rip people off make sure it isn't obvious.
Would you like to have your artwork exhibited at Le Carrousel du Louvre?
This is a one of a kind opportunity news for artists!
NFTUK is thrilled to announce that we'll be heading back to Paris, and this time we're curating an art exhibition featuring 10 talented artists at Le Carrousel du Louvre for the upcoming Paris Blockchain Week event, Web3XP, on March 21st.
This is an incredible opportunity to showcase your artwork at an iconic and historically significant location that has been the birthplace of some of the most renowned artworks in history.
We are initiating an open call on our twitter account via Joyn.xyz that is not restricted to UK artists only, but rather, it is open to artists from around the world.
